I am slightly daunted by our new garden, so have decided to tackle one small patch at a time, starting at the front. The past few days have been spent removing a thick carpet of grass and weeds from beneath established shrubs and roses, adding some lovely Wilco’s horse manure compost and planting these UK grown hellebores – in spotted pink, cream and burgundy – from Woodruff’s Yard in Lewes. Now all I am waiting for is my bulb delivery of narcissi, grape hyacinths (Muscari Armeniacum) and tulips and a cheerful wintry display beside the path to our front door will start to take shape.
